A joint security force of police, internal security agents and the army broke into the John Eneku recreation center in Soroti, demanding for money which was allegedly hidden in one of the rooms, to bribe voters in today's local council elections.
The heavily armed contingent sorrounded a room where Soroti woman Member of Parliament, Alice Alaso was sleeping at 12:30AM.
The proprietor of the center Rev. Fr. Anthanasius Mubiru says, police had earlier requested permission to enter and search the area but he denied them access.
Fr.Mubiru says they later broke the fence at around 12:30AM and surrounded Alaso's room. They claimed that she had the money intended to bribe voters in today's local council elections.

The District police commander Soroti, Pius Mutabazi commanded the operation.
Mutabazi says that the raid was carried out after police got information, that FDC leaders had planned to meet the priests at mid night, to map out ways of bribing voters.
Fr.Mubiru has been a target of various accusations from internal security for allegedly supporting anti-government forces.
His Soroti based Radio, Kyoga Veritas, was shut down for allegedly supporting LRA in 2003. Fr. Mubiru is accused of bankrolling opposition candidates who recently swept victory in Teso Sub-region.
Fr Mubiru denies the allegations.
