UN Security Council votes to end NATO military action in Libya

NATO last week announced it would terminate its military campaign on 31 October.
 
Libya’s transitional government on Sunday declared the country liberated, after former dictator Muammar Qadhafi was killed in Sirte.
 
In other news, the decision by Libya’s National Transitional Council’s to investigate the circumstances under which Muammar Qadhafi and his son were killed in Sirte has been welcomed by a top UN official.
 
Ian Martin, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative to Libya, told the Security Council  on Wednesday that the aspirations of the youth and their sacrifices must guide the next phase of the country’s transformation.
