Victims of the infamous Barlonyo massacres in Lira district whose land was designated for the construction of a vocational training school are demanding compensation for their land.
The landlords said some of their colleagues were silently compensated by the government through the Lira district.
Richard Okello 26, a landlord at the formerly IDPs camp said he has been under compensated over his 11 acres of land, saying he received just 11 millions as compensation of his 11 acres of land.
Okello who lost his father Okweny John and seven other people in the 2004 attack by the Lords Resistance Army rebels said that district officials forced them give out the land to pave way for the construction of a school.
The Government of Uganda injected at least shilling 400m in the construction of Barlonyo vocational school in Lira.
Odongo Patrick LCI chief of Barlonyo village, said president Museveni pledged to compensate those whose land will be affected by the development.
Susan Akany Resident district commissioner of Lira said that the district had already paid the people that gave out their land but refused to give details about the amount of compensation.
Akany said she will investigate the matter to establish how much money is owed to the landlords in compensation.
