Police in Rakai are investigating the circumstances under which the Bbaale village LC I Chairman, Richard Mujuzi, died.
Mujuzi was allegedly attacked and killed over the weekend and his body left hanging inside his house.
The deceased’s neighbors were shocked to find him hanging on a rope in his house when they went to visit him.
Rose Nabakoza, the Rakai District Criminal Investigations Officer, says that Mujuzi’s body was found with bruises, which she says could have been sustained during a fight for his life.
Nabakoza says that police also found traces of footmarks just behind the chairman’s house.
Grace Nakirija, the deceased’s wife has been linked to the murder. Preliminary reports show that the couple has been embroiled in a feud over extramarital affairs.
Mathia Mulumba, a brother to the deceased explains that Mujuzi was forced to abandon his home for more than nine months following reports that his wife had an affair with another man.
But on the night of his murder, he was reportedly alone in the house.
His wife has however fled into hiding and police are hunting for her to help with the investigations.
The body has been taken to Kalisizo hospital for postmortem.
