Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has named a team that will represent the country at the 2011 Africa Twenty20 women’s tournament slated for December 16-20 in Kampala.
Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has named a team that will represent the country at the 2011 Africa Twenty20 women’s tournament slated for December 16-20 in Kampala.

Following the conclusion of the Women’s National Cricket League 2011 a week ago, UCA’s technical wing selected a squad of 20 ladies who commenced training on Monday before the team is trimmed to 14 players by the end of November.
 
The team will be under the watchful eyes of national men’s coaches Martin Suji and Henry Okecho, while Jackie Nakitto Lutaaya is the manager.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) selected Uganda two months ago to host the 2011 Africa Twenty20 women's tournament. The event will have six teams taking part including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
 
Justine Ligyalingi, the UCA Chief Executive Officer told URN on Monday that they have started to organize for the event just like they did for the ICC Division One Twenty20 men’s event won by Uganda two months ago.

The players summoned are Mackenzie Ayato, Lillian Aliyinza, Gloria Adubu, Stella Atim, and Rebecca Akwenyu all from ACC. The others are Franklyn Najumba, Concy Aweko, Scovia Akello, and Mary Nankinga from Tornado. The Wanderers contingent on the team includes Carol Namugenyi, Christine Aryemo, Mary Nanderenga,  Naome Kayondo, Miriam Lumonya and Kevin Apio, while from Charity UCA selected Barbara Mukankusi, Lydia Bakumpe, Rita Nyangendo and Flavia Laker. Trudy Namulondo from Gayaza is also on the team.
