Citing the need for an organized town, food vendors in Tororo town have been given a one week ultimatum to relocate their businesses into the main markets.
The authorities in Tororo Municiplaity’s Western division say they are concerned about the mess that has been created by street food vendors selling maize, fruits and vegetables.
On Monday, Members of the executive committee led by the LC111 Chairperson Western Division, Jenkins Ongaria, the Area Senior Assistant Town Clerk in charge western Division, Felix Gabriel Ofwono, blamed the street vendors for the persistent blockage of the drainage system.
He warned that food vendors most of who cook their food on the roadsides are posing a threat to the town.
Ofwono urged all the vendors to operate their business from the main market.
