Four people have picked nomination papers to contest in the Busiro North parliamentary by election.
The Wakiso district returning officer Sarah Bukirwa identified those who picked nomination forms on Tuesday include former vice president Gilbert Bukenya (NRM), Hussein Kasta Bukenya (DP),Henry Kiwuwa and Festus Rwabuhihe all independent candidates. Bukirwa adds that the four will be duly nominated on 14th and 15th of November, 2011.
The candidates have tagged their campaigns on poor roads, health services and unemployment of the youths in the constituency.
Hussein Kasta who successfully challenged the election of Prof. Gilbert Bukenya as the area MP says that the constituency has lagged behind in development despite being represented by a person at the level of vice president.
Kasta says that he wants to ensure better service delivery, employment of the youths through mobilizing them to participate in community projects.
Prof. Bukenya says he wants to keep the flame of Busiro North burning through representing their views both locally and internationally. He promised to lobby for construction of roads and health centers in the district.
Kiwuwa and Rwabuhihe on the other hand vowed to fight poverty in the constituency.
But Nsimbi Kabuye, a resident of Kakiri Sub County says that he will vote for a candidate who will be able to prioritize the issues of water scarcity and lack of drugs in the health centers.
The Busiro north parliamentary seat fell vacant after High Court in Kampala nullified the election of the incumbent Prof Gilbert Bukenya over voter bribery. Court ordered for fresh elections which are set for 1st December 2011.
