Police in Kisoro district are hunting for armed robbers who on Monday evening attacked a centenary bank car carrying staff from the field and robbed them of up to 20 million shillings at gun point.
According to the officer in charge criminal investigations department at Kisoro central police station Fred Lumara, the robbery took place near Kisoro High school along the Kabale-Kisoro road at around 4:00pm. The robbers reportedly took off with the money and later fired shots in the air to scare away people who had wanted to pursue them.
The bank employees were traveling in a double cabin pick up truck registration number UAM 648T.
Lumara says police are now holding two of the robbery victims to help police in investigations.
He however did not reveal the identities of the centenary bank staff who were victims of the robbery citing security reasons.
Deus Tumuhimbise, Centenary Bank manager Kabale branch confirmed the incident but declined to give details.
