The Masaka Municipality Town Clerk, Johnson Baryantuma Munono, haspetitioned the Inspector General of Government, Raphael Bakku, seeking an investigation into the alleged illegal sale of the municipal council chambers.
The town clerk accuses the probeMasaka Mayor Godfrey Kayemba Afaayo, of involvement in the shady deal.
A copy of the petition letter also sent to the RDC, the senior committee clerk and the council speaker states that the IGG shouldintervene and investigate the involvement of Mayor in the illegal sale of the council offices.
The town clerk says that a committee report found out that the Mayor applied to buy the building on behalf of the council, but without the consent of council.
But the mayor says that the Town Clerk is free to petition and that he is ready to defend himself.
