Police in Nakaseke have arrested five people in connection with double murder incidents in the district on Thursday night.
Two of the suspects are; Aloysius Busulwa, and his wife Jane Nakityo. They are accused of murdering Simon Lulirwe a witchdoctor of Balattira village in Kapeeka sub county.
The others are Daniel Kibirige,Robert Mugerwa,and Suleiman Kigundu. The Twio is accused of murdering Besweri Mukiibi, the chairman of Bukattira village in Ssemuto sub county in Nakaseke district.
Simon Lulirwe was found lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the head, chest and back, while Besweri Mukiibi was found murdered and his dead body dumped into the bushes near his home.
Riots rocked Balattira village as residents wanted to kill the two witchdoctors indentified as Aloysious Busulwa and Kato Kagimu whom they accused of masterminding the murder.The residents demolished their homesteads and properties leaving their families homeless.
The Nakaseke District Police Commander Edward Kyaligonza says that the five suspects were arrested in an operation by police with the assistance of the sniffer dogs that smoked them out of their homes.
Kyaligonza explains that one of the suspects in the murders Kato Kagimu has allegedly gone into hiding, but police are still hunting for him to face the murder charges.
