Ten clubs in the Bell Lager National Football League have disowned Mujib Kasule saying there is no way he can be FUFA Vice President in-charge of the League.

In a meeting called by the Uganda Super League (USL) at the Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, only Proline FC and Bunnamwaya supported Kasule, while the other ten said there is no way the Proline boss can lead them yet that is a position meant to be occupied by a USL board member.

Three clubs including Masaka LC, Victors and Fire Masters, did not send representatives to the meeting.

USL chairman Kavuma Kabenge said FUFA is working against its own constitution. But FUFA Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson, who was in attendance simply said it was a continuous issue and would be resolved.

In December, FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa appointed Kasule as Vice President in-charge of the League, a move that angered many members of the USL. Article 25 (8) of the FUFA constitution stipulates that the vice president in-charge of the League shall be appointed from the Board of Directors of the USL.

Kabenge also pointed out one of the clauses in the FUFA constitution which stipulates that a woman must be the Vice President in-charge of women football, but it’s currently a man who occupies that office.

On allegations that Kasule had written a letter to the League sponsors, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) to withdraw their sponsorship, the FUFA Vice President denied saying he is a clear headed person and a Muslim who can’t tell lies. The USL officials who say they have alleged letter claim it was written on a FUFA headed paper.

The war between FUFA and USL is expected to continue as latest information indicates that the later has written to the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) questioning the way FUFA is managing the game.

The members who attended included Kavuma Kabenge (Express), Fred Muwema (SC Villa), Livingstone Lajan (Police), Mujib Kasule (Proline), Micheal Mulira (UTODA), Asaf Mwebaze (Maroons), John Mutenda (KCC FC), John Mayeka (URA), Lt.Tom Lwanga (Simba), Salim Saleh (Bidco), Tadeus Kikandwa (Bunnamwaya) and Julius Oyet (Water FC).
