FUFA Vice President in-charge of the League, Mujib Kasule has challenged the Uganda Super League (USL) officials to present books of accounts without mistakes.
Kasule says he is ready to resign if USL presents proper books of accounts. Ten Super Division clubs disowned Kasule last Saturday during a meeting and said there is no way he can hold that position in FUFA yet he is not a board member of USL.
Kasule admitted that although the constitution says the position must be occupied by a board member, USL has no mandate to question his appointment.
Kasule, who was one of the brains behind the formation of USL said Kavuma Kabenge and Fred Muwema, the USL chairman and vice have started a war against him because he knows lots of dirt about their dealings with sponsors who poured Shs1.6 billion in the League.
Speaking about money, the Proline boss said the Shs1.6 billion sponsorship package from sponsors Bell Lager, Eco Bank and DSTV, is being misused by a few members of USL.
According to Kasule, each team in the league is supposed to get Shs68 million, but the USL bosses have not given some of the clubs part of this money when the first batch of Shs30 million came in. He named Hoima FC which they eventually scrapped off the League. The former Cranes International questioned why USL has never been open with their accounts.
But USL Chief Executive Officer Ebil Ssegawa told URN that they can present their books of accounts audited by an external person and see how Kasule resigns. Ssegawa dismissed him noting that he doesn’t know what he is talking about.
Although two USL members, Kavuma and Ssegawa, have refused to appear before a FUFA Disciplinary Committee on January 13, Kasule says they will not believe what will happen if they snub the meeting. He notes that football is run by the FIFA Statue and since USL is an affiliate of FUFA, the state of the World Football Body must be followed.
The FIFA Vice President said he was perturbed to learn that the USL officials had said they will not attend the meeting on January 13 yet it is planned as another way of getting things in order.
He explained that there is no way USL could have accepted Fire Masters which had been relegated in the League and also used referees from the streets to officiate three matches at the start of the League. He insists that League is null and void so long as a relegated team is still competing and the results of the three matches handled by fake referees still stand.
Kasule’s team, Proline is playing in the same league even though he had initially refused to participate.
But USL spokesman Raymond James Ssekandi said FUFA has failed to follow their own Constitution, and therefore should not expect USL to listen to them.
