Uganda Super League Limited (USLL) on Wednesday wrote to the Minister of Sports, Charles Bakkabulindi and National Council of Sports (NCS) General Secretary Jasper Aligawesa calling them to help restore the FUFA constitution which they claim has been tampered with.
Signed by the USLL Chief Executive Officer Ebil Ssegawa, the letter titled ‘Restoration of FUFA constitution’ spells out that the FUFA constitution is wrong and something must be done about that.
The letter claims that in August 2010 FUFA prepared another constitution, presented it for registration and to the public as the authentic document. The USL officials note that the said constitution is false in as far as it was not passed by the FUFA General Assembly and yet it seeks to regulate members of FUFA including USL.
The USLL letter comes a day after three members of FUFA were summoned to appear in court on January 24 to answer criminal charges. One member of Save Our Soccer, Dennis Mbidde Ssebugwawo took the FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa, the Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson and Chairman FUFA Standing Legal Committee Muhamadi Bazirengedde to court on three charges of making documents without authority, forgery/ making false documents and fraud/breach of trust.
When URN contacted, the Sports Minister Bakkabulindi said he was going for a meeting and could not comment on the letter. But NCS General Secretary Aligawesa said he had not received the said letter yet.
