Save Our Soccer (SOS), a pressure group striving for the good governance of football, on Wednesday gave FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa, his CEO Edgar Watson and Legal Standing Committee chairman, Muhammadi Bazirengedde a seven-day ultimatum to resign.
Led by Aldrine Nsubuga, SOS said Mulindwa and the two others should step aside because they don’t have moral authority and public backing now after ‘forging’ a constitution.
Nsubuga said while addressing the media at Sheraton Hotel that SOS members won’t give up the FUFA officials, whom he described as criminals, are brought to book.
This latest development follows court summons for the three officials on Tuesday to answer criminal charges on January 24th. It also came just as Uganda Super League Limited (USSL) wrote to Sports Minister Charles Bakkabulindi and National Council of Sports (NCS) General Secretary Jasper Aligawesa to intervene.
The three FUFA officials were summoned by court on Tuesday in relation to making documents without authority, forgery, making false documents, fraud and breach of trust.
Nsubuga wondered why Mulindwa cannot resign when top government officials like Ministers can resign, adding that he is going to petition parliament on the matter. Nsubuga was also part of the SOS group together with Fred Muwema and Dennis Mbidde who ousted former FUFA President Dennis Obua in 2005.
But when contacted, FUFA spokesman Rogers Mulindwa said he would not respond to the latest development, but added that the three officials will appear in court on January 24 since they have been summoned.
