Police in Bushenyi are investigating a forgery complaint linked to a bank scam.
The criminal investigations officer, Benon Bakiremeka, says police received a complaint linking Aldrine Kyatuha of Itojo Sub-county in Ntungamo district to the bank scam.
Preliminary reports show that Kyatuha being a guardian of a student at Uganda Technical College in Bushenyi, used a forged a stamp of Stanbic Bank Bushenyi branch to reflect that he had paid the school fees through the bank.
He added that Kayatuha has been presenting fake bank receipts to the college bursar worth 1.2 million shillings.
The matter was brought to the attention of the authorities by the college authorities. The Police detective, told reporters in Bushenyi that the suspect was arrested but released later on police bond.
He said that police are still trying to get a handwriting expert to ascertain whether the stamp Kayatuha used is a forged one.
