An estimated 50 students of Blessed Sacrament Kimanya Secondary School in Masaka district have been expelled for alleged criminal and academic indiscipline.
Thirty other students have been asked to repeat their senior three and senior five classes for failing to score a 45% average grade point.
Steven Lukyamuzi, the School Deputy Head Teacher says 20 students have been expelled for criminal indiscipline which involves gambling, escaping from school to go to Ambiance dancehall, and smoking marijuana.w
30 others majority of whom are boys were expelled for academic indiscipline.
Lukyamuzi says 20 of the expelled students who had turned up for this term have been forced out of school because of misbehavior.
// Cue in: “We tried to put them right……”
Cue out: “…..measures to take to control discipline.”//
Lukyamuzi, says the school is investigating several other students for acting in breach of the school rules and regulations.
However, some of the expelled student’s denied any wrong doing and are crying foul following the ejection from school. Pascal Lubega, Cossy Najjuuko, and Elvis Kato all senior four students are some of the expelled students.
They claim that the school did not give them a fair hearing. Pascal Lubega, who was expelled for criminal indiscipline claims that he has never escaped from school to go boozing and clubbing. Lubega accuses the school management of fabricating the allegations against him to cause trouble for him.
By press time, some expelled students were still in cue waiting to meet the school authorities to consider giving them another chance.
