FUFA Vice President in-charge of the League, Mujib Kasule has said the federation might withdraw the mandate of organizing the National League from the Uganda Super League Limited (USLL).
Kasule says FUFA suspended the League so that certain things can be put in place first but USLL officials have gone ahead to play most of the games in the League against the federation’s orders.
Kasule told URN in an interview on Tuesday that they have tried to handle matters slowly, but the top officials at USLL have refused to come good. He revealed that nine clubs had met last weekend and sent their resolutions to FUFA which the Federation replied to. The top FUFA official noted that the federation is only waiting for Friday’s scheduled league action to know how many of the nine clubs are serious about what they said.
The Clubs that were present in the meeting included; Simba FC, Bunamwaya FC, Proline FC, Bidco FC, Police FC, Maroons FC, URA FC, Hoima FC, and Victors FC. The clubs resolved among others to have chairman Kavuma Kabenge and the CEO Ebil Ssegawa banned. Both officials, who were early last month banned by FUFA for 11 years and one year respectively, didn’t attend the meeting. The club officials also resolved to replay all the affected games where un-qualified referees were used, reinstate Hoima FC in the League and also have the League Manager Paul Kabaikaramu replace Ssegawa as CEO. The clubs that met at the Sheraton Hotel also selected a normalization committee which will be chaired by URA Chairman Ali Sekatawa.
But when contacted, USLL spokesman James Ssekandi said they are not aware of such a meeting and will continue to do their work. He said the League will continue on Friday with four games. Asked if USLL will kick out Proline FC and Bunnamwaya FC from the League if they don’t honour their games, Ssekandi said they will not cross the bridge before they get there. The rules stipulate that if a team fails to honour three games, then they are kicked out of the League.
