George Agaba, the director of physical planning at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), has been remanded to Luzira Prisons for alleged murder.
Gladys Kamasanyu, the Nakawa Grade One Magistrate on Wednesday read murder charges to Agaba and remanded him till February 8th when he, together with his bodyguard Santos Komakech Makmot, will reappear in court. Komakech was on January 25th remanded for the same charges.
Prosecution alleges that on January 22nd at Luzira, Agaba and Makmot shot dead John Onyango during the KCCA eviction operation.
On Wednesday, prosecution led by Joseph Bayige applied to court to amend the charge sheet to include Agaba as accused Number Two. Agaba was on January 25th released on police bond on grounds that there was no evidence linking him directly to the shooting.
Agaba, clad in a pink shirt and grey trousers, was barred from taking plea because the magistrates’ court does not have the jurisdiction to try his case. The 37-year-old KCCA official was led to a Prisons’ vehicle number UG0136U and driven away to Luzira.
