Sam Simbwa, the Express FC head Coach is asking FUFA to take disciplinary action against Masaka Local council for alleged failing to control hooliganism.

Simbwa’s call comes a day after a group of Masaka Local Council FC supporters stormed the touch -line and attacked him for alleged corruption.

Trouble started on Friday during a Bell Lager Super League game played between Express FC and local side Masaka LC at Recreation Center in Masaka town.  Express FC won the match 1-0 to extend its top of the league with 37 points.

Henry Katongole scored Express’ only goal in the dying minutes of the first half after Masaka LC keeper blundered and fabled with the ball.

But, minutes before the end of first half, a group of Masaka Supporters broke the fence and stormed the touch-line where Simbwa was sitting and attacked him for allegedly bribing the referees to grant Express FC Victoria.

The supporters including Masaka secondary school students and Nyendo youths attempted to lynch him.

It took the intervention of Local Defense Unit operatives who came about 20 minutes later and calmed the situation which was slowly generating into chaos.

Now, Sam Simbwa, the Express FC coach want FUFA to punish Masaka LC FC for failing to provide security to him and for failure to control its supporters who attacked him. Simbwa explains that the supporters bleached FUFA constitution which prohibits them against attacking private lives of foot ball managers.

Simbwa also accuses fans and referees of failing to take touch action against Masaka player Dan Ssebuliba who boxed him and his played Bonny Baingana.

However, Joseph Karungi, the Masaka LC FC Chairman who also witnessed the violence has blamed it on lack of security. He says police has always deployed to ensure security during matches but he wonders why there was not a single policeman in the stadium.

Masaka Recreation Ground is slowly becoming a dangerous place to play soccer from. Last year, two football matches almost aborted after an outbreak of violence between Masaka supporters and Villa supporters.
