Enoch Bategyerize, the Officer in charge of Lukaya Police station and Denis Bamwesigye, a Criminal Investigation Officer attached to Lukaya police have been arrested for alleged murder.
The two were arrested Thursday Morning in connection with their alleged involvement in the murder of Yasin Ssemaganda of Kikoma village, Mijwaala subcounty, Ssembabule district.
Ssemaganda was summoned to explain the circumstances under which his son Abaas Ssebuuma, allegedly stole 500,000 shillings.
Simon Peter Wafana, the Southern Region Police Commander, says the duo allegedly tortured Ssemaganda using batons and gun buts resulting into excessive bleeding.
Baker Ssesimba, a relative of Ssemaganda claims that the two police officers rushed Ssemaganda to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital where he stayed until he died.
Angry residents stormed Lukaya Police Station demanding an explanation about the death of their own.
The Southern Regional Police commander says, the suspects have been transferred to Masaka Central Police Station, pending investigations into the murder.
