FUFA: Cranes-Egypt Build-up May be Played in Another Country

The Egyptian Football Federation (EFF) has called off the International build-up match against the Uganda Cranes that had been slated for February 25th due to security concerns. Rogers Mulindwa, the FUFA spokesman told URN on Monday that the Egyptian FA is looking at the possibility of having the match played outside their country.

The Egyptians are now trying to organize for the match to be played outside Egypt with all costs catered for. Rogers Mulindwa, the FUFA spokesman told URN on Monday that the Egyptian FA is looking at the possibility of having the match played outside their country.

Egypt were also trying to use the build-up to prepare their team for a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against Zimbabwe, while Uganda face Congo Brazzaville away on February 29th. Early this month, 74 people died in Port Said Stadium during a league match and the incident led to riots in other towns which has created insecurity.

Cranes coach Bobby Williamson says he will continue to handle the team in Kampala and wait for the next preparations by the technical committee of the Federation. He says a few players are doing well in training and are waiting for their professional colleagues to join them before the away game in Brazzaville.

Cranes team: Abel Dhaira (Iceland), Ali Kimera, Simeon Masaba, Massa Geoffrey (Cyprus), Sserunkuuma Geoffrey (South Africa), Steven Bengo (Uganda), Mike Mutyaba (Sudan), Emmanuel Okwi (Tanzania), Tonny Mawejje (South Africa), Henry Kalungi (USA), Mudde Musa (Kenya) and Andy Mwesigwa (Kazakhstan).

Others are Wagaluka Dan (Rwanda), Habib Kavuma (Rwanda), Oloya Moses (Vietnam), Ochan Patrick (DR Congo), Walusimbi Godfrey (Uganda), Wasswa Hassan (Turkey), Guma Denis (Uganda), Umony Brian (Vietnam) and Kayongo Mutumba Martin (Sweden), Dennis Onyango (South Africa), Mike Sserumaga, Sula Matovu, Isaac Isinde  (Ethiopia).
