Former Privatisation minister and National Resistance Movement—NRM historical, Matthew Rukikaire, is one of the owners of the Pioneer Easy Bus, the company that imported over 100 buses to be used in public transport in Kampala. The list of share-holders now stands at six partners according to documents from the Registrar of Companies.
The bus company lists former premier Kintu Musoke, former deputy premier Eric Adriko, Faizal Kasujja, a Banker, businessman Fred Senoga, Dr. Muhammed Kasaja, a real estate developer and Ida Wanendeya as its other shareholders.
The company which was first incorporated in on March 1, 2005, was first owned by Matthew Rukikaire and Fred Senoga as Chairman and Secretary respectively according to a notification of change of Directors and Secretaries that was filed with the registrar of companies.
Pioneer Easy Bus has been in the lime light ever since Kampala Capital City Authority – KCCA declared an expiry of a contract that they had with Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association – UTODA to manage taxi transport in the city. The bus which had promised to start operations on March 1st, has had its contract with KCCA halted by Parliament.
However, it’s not clear how the ownership of the bus company changed from individuals into companies.
On November 10, 2009 the Board of Directors unanimously agreed and resolved to a lot Rukikaire with 45.04percent, Atlantis Holding Limited had 20percent, Investpro Holding Limited with 13percent shares and Urban Bus Transporters Association with five percent share holding. Another company which was also part of the share holders called Habib Investments Limited had ceased being a member.
However, the same allotment was cancelled and replaced with another that was filed with the Registrar of Companies dated May 7, 2010.
The new allotment shows that Rukikaire was given 4171 ordinary shares, while Atlantis Holdings Limited had 1800 shares and Investpro Holdings Limited got 1170 shares. Urban Public Transport Company Limited was allotted 333shares, Kenlloyd Logistics Uganda Ltd was given 1526 shares and Delux Solutions Limited was allotted 1000 shares.
The entire share holding was 10,000 shares with each of them valued at 30,000 Uganda shillings.
Rukikaire, Albert Muganga and James Yefeho are the principal signatories while Fred Senoga and John Masanda are the other signatories.
