MUjib Kasule: Club Pressures Forced Cranes Players to Quit

Sport
In the last eight days, Nestroy Kizito, Ibrahim Sekagya and David Obua announced their retirement from the national team. The three play their professional football in Serbia, Austria and Scotland respectively.
FUFA vice president in-charge of the League Mujib Kasule has said he is not surprised to see three senior players retire from the national team.

In the last eight days, Nestroy Kizito, Ibrahim Sekagya and David Obua announced their retirement from the national team. The three play their professional football in Serbia, Austria and Scotland respectively.

And now Kasule says the players are struggling with their respective teams and it’s understandable when they decide to quit.

According to Kasule, it is sometimes very hard to continue playing for the clubs and the national team and eventually one of them will have to suffer.

Mujib explained that defender Kizito has no club in Serbia now and is struggling doing trials with several clubs in order to try and get signed, while Obua is hardly played in the first team for Hearts FC in the Scottish League.

Kasule, who has made several trips to Europe and says he is well aware of the challenges of professional football, also said Cranes skipper Sekagya has lately been suffering from injuries and this has affected his place in the Salzburg team. Kasule notes that when players go through these challenging times, they need to make decisions to either quit the national teams or one aspect will be greatly affected.

The FUFA official said although the Cranes coach Bobby Williamson said he was not ready for Sekagya’s retirement, the former striker thinks it’s always good to look ahead and concentrate on what you have at your disposal as a team.
