Sweden-based Ugandan striker Martin Kayongo Mutumba has already joined the Cranes team heading to Congo Brazzaville on Monday morning ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday.
Mutumba arrived in the country on Saturday after a motor accident in Sweden, while on his way to Stockholm airport, delayed his travel by a day.
Although the AIK FC player is yet to get a Ugandan passport as the Ministry on Internal Affairs is still processing his documents, FUFA has confirmed the player will travel.
On his arrival on Saturday, Mutumba said he was honoured to be called upon to serve his country and promised to offer his best if given a chance. He called upon the authorities to speed up the process of producing his passport.
He straight away went to the training camp at Mandela National Stadium where head Coach Bobby Williamson officially introduced him to the newly appointed team captain Andy Mwesigwa and thereafter joined the rest of the team for an afternoon training.
Rogers Mulindwa, the FUFA spokesman said Mutumba will travel with the team on Monday if his passport is ready. Mulindwa added that they also have a possibility of Mutumba traveling on Tuesday depending on the time they secure the travel document.
The Cranes team will be minus striker Geoffrey Massa who is engaged with his team in Cyprus.
