Experts carrying out reconstruction of the Lugogo Indoor Stadium floor have completed their work and say the facility will be ready in a week’s time.
Christopher Kanchelsiki, the lead expert from Poland told URN on Saturday that they had completed making the final touches on the surface and it would be ready for use after March 5th.
Mid last year the stadium was abruptly closed after the playing turf started developing bumps after a few sporting disciplines had used the facility.
MTN Uganda are in-charge of the Stadium after they injected Shs1.8 billion to renovate the complex and it was re-named MTN Lugogo Arena. MTN Uganda’s Promotions and Branding Manager, Aggrey Kagonyera says they used over 100million shillings to re-do the floor. The earlier renovation was completed in August 2010 when a Dutch firm, Descol sports services, installed the multi- purpose floor that will be used by basketball, boxing, table tennis and volleyball. President Yoweri Museveni then opened it in 2010.
