Two Bell Lager Super League games failed to take Friday evening, due to a strike by players’ demanding  for better conditions.

One of the games kicked off with only seven played and was aborted after 15 minutes after one of the players got injured.
While defending League champions Uganda Revenue Authority beat Bidco 4-1 to maintain their lead on the table, Masaka also snatched a 1-0 victory over Victors in Jinja.

Express who started with seven players as per the Fifa rules failed to continue after 15 minutes against Simba in Bombo as one of their players got injured and the rules don’t allow a team to continue with only six players.

Players, under the Federation of Football Players Association (Fopfa), formed last year, listed several demands which must be met before they can kick a ball again.

Led by former SC Villa and Police player Dan Walusimbi, they demand to have “easily understood contracts” to be given to the 400 registered players.

At Nakivubo Stadium, players of Fire masters came in their team bus, but failed to enter the field to face SC Villa. Utoda also refused to get their team ready to face Bunnamwaya at Wankulukuku Stadium.

Apart from contracts, they also want image rights, a legislated minimum wage and the immediate resignation of Fufa boss Lawrence Mulindwa and Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson.

Uganda Super League Limited (USLL) spokesman Raymond Ssekandi told URN later that they have summoned officials of Express, Utoda and Fire Masters on Monday to explain why their teams failed to appear for the matches. Three other games are slated to take place on Saturday at different venues.
