Uganda’s top athlete Moses Kipsiro failed to get to the podium position, finishing a distant seventh in the 3000metres final at the IAAF World Indoor Championship in Turkey on Sunday.
Kipsiro, the 2010 double gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games in India and gold medalist at last year’s All Africa Games, failed to match the powerful line-up of American and Kenyan runners. Former Kenyan athlete now running for USA Bernard Lagat finished top ahead of Kenya’s duo of Augustine Choge and Edwin Cheruivot Soi.
Kipsiro showed slow speed compared to his opponents who started off in top speed. In the semi finals, Kipsiro, who is yet to get his right form finished in the top four.
Uganda’s rivals Kenya collected two gold medals, a silver and a bronze to finish behind Ethiopia who collected two gold, a silver and two bronze medals.
