The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has cancelled an International friendly game between local side KCC FC and the stranded Malian team Djoliba FC. The match was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at Mandela National Stadium.

Edgar Watson, the FUFA Chief Executive Officer said the game could not go ahead without clearance from the relevant authorities.

The Malian champions were here to face URA last weekend in an Orange Africa Champions League tie that they won 2-0, but got stranded after flights back to Bamako were cancelled because of insecurity following a military coup in their country.

The Djoliba team was on Monday evening moved from the more expensive City Royal Hotel in Bugolobi to Namboole Sports View Hotel which would cost the hosts less.

In a communication sent by FUFA, Watson said no official request for the match was received at FUFA and therefore no permission authorizing this match was granted.

Watson said that according to the FIFA rules, an international match in this category has to be authorized by FUFA the Mali Football Federation and Confederation of African Football (CAF).
