Nabila Naggayi, the Kampala Woman Member of Parliament and the IPC women league chairperson Ingrid Turinawe have been placed under preventive arrest. The duo was picked up this morning from Luwumu Street in Kampala where they had pitched camp with FDC leader Kizza Besigye to protest their arrest for walking to work.
Turinawe told journalists shortly after they were picked up that they had decided to drive and park in the streets because police has been blocking them from walking to any part in the city. Now Judith Nabakooba, deputy police spokesperson says that both Nabilah and Turinawe have been placed under preventive arrest.
She says that police decided to pick up the opposition politicians because of fears that they would lead to a breach of peace. She explains that police has decided to hold the duo under preventive arrest at Jinja road police station to avoid chaos. Nabakooba says that Kiiza Besigye, the FDC leader has also been driven back to his home in Kasangati.
But, Mathias Mpuuga, the A4C coordinator told URN that Besigye has been taken to Kasangati Police Station. It is not yet clear, whether or not Besigye has been charged with any offense.
