Over 200 heavy truck drivers carrying goods in transit have staged a strike at Mbarara Weigh Bridge to protest the enforcement of the axle weigh load. The drivers have parked their trucks along the Mbarara –Masaka Highway accusing the weigh bridge officials of weighing their axle load instead of the gross load on their vehicles.
Hassan Muhammed, a Kenyan truck driver enroute to Rwanda wonders why their vehicles are subjected to the axle weigh load at Mbarara yet at officials at Busitema and Lukaya weigh bridge stations considered the gross weight.
