Peter Nyombi, the attorney general says For God and My Country-4GC, a newly created pressure group and all its activities are illegal.

On Friday morning, members of the banned Activists for Change - A4C pressure group rebranded and vowed to continue pushing for democratic reforms in the country. Mathias Mpuuga, the former A4C coordinator said they are ready to challenge the instruments of power issued by the attorney general.

But Nyombi says according to the statutory instruments he issued early this month, any society formed with the membership of the banned A4C is unlawful.  According to the instruments, Nyombi invoked sub section 3 of section 56 of the penal code and declared A4C, its membership and all its activities unlawful.

Nyombi told URN on Friday that he is carrying out more research to study whether any society is allowed to use national emblems just like 4GC has done. He has promised to pronounce himself on the matter once he completes his research. The group is now using the colours of the national flag among other symbols.

A4C was launched on April 11, 2011 as a move to push government to address economic hardships prevailing in the country at the time. Violent confrontations with police and other security forces have characterised the pressure group's activities over the last one year until it was banned early in April 2012.
