The coach of Mozambique’s junior team, Angels Gent Josef, has warned the Uganda Hippos not to celebrate yet after his team lost 4-0 in Kampala on Saturday in the first leg of the 2013 Africa Junior Championship qualifier.

Gent told URN on Sunday before the team left for Maputo that although the loss was by a big margin, they could also easily turn the game in the return leg. He said they had planned for a draw but noted that their defending was not good enough and the hosts proved very comfortable.

Yayo Lutimba scored the fastest goal in his football career for the Hippos after only 30 seconds after kick off. Later Ssekisambu Erisa, who features for Express FC, netted twice before William Wadri sealed the deal nine minutes before the break.

Hippos’ Coach Paul Nkata said his Under 20 team did not score in the second half claiming that his target was two goals but the Hippos scored four which gave them the chance to taste new things.

The second leg will be played in two weeks’ time. Qualification for Uganda means they face former World and Africa U-20 Champions, the Black Satellites of Ghana in the next round as they bid to qualify for the continental showpiece due in Algiers, Algeria next year.
