A storm has devastated Paidha secondary school in Zombo district destroying property worth shillings 30 million. The storm blew off the roof top of a classroom block occupied by senior one and two students destroying vital documents and text books. Raphael Ongom, head teacher Paidha secondary school says over 1000 students, have been using the affected classroom block.

He says the storm dumped some of the iron sheets far away from the school and they were stolen by residents. Ongom appeals for government intervention saying his school relies on support from parents but they are unable to raise the money needed for the repair. He explains that they cannot divert the funds they receive under the Universal Secondary Education grants to renovate the affected classes because the money is used to pay teachers.

Emmy Kizito Kakura, Zombo District LC V chairman has called for the intervention of the disaster preparedness ministry saying Paidha Secondary school is one of the tradition schools in the district that was constructed by parents. Kakura has also appealed to members of the business community and Non Governmental Organizations operating in the district to join hands and help renovate the school before the second term begins.
