Voting at Nyarutuntu mosque in Nyabubale sub-county Bushenyi district was suspended on Friday after a group of disgruntled voters grabbed voting materials from the returning officer and ran away.
Musa Mukholi, the returning officer of Nyarutuntu mosque, says four voters -Issa Mwebaze, Ibra Kinyogo, Mucunguzi and Beyunga grabbed voting materials from him and fled from the voting center.
The materials included a register, and ballot papers.
Mukholi, who is also the serving Immam of Nyarutuntu mosque told journalists that the district Khadi, Mubarak Katinama had suspended the elections for his mosque until further notice.
Bushenyi district police officer in charge of the station, Bashil Siriba says the voting materials were recovered later by police. Siriba said he would summon the suspects to explain their actions.
Voting in other mosques in Bushenyi district went on smoothly.
There were no other reports of violence in the district. Police trucks full of police constables patrolled mainly Ishaka mosque where violence was expected.
