George Atwezikire, an accountant of the Law Reform Commission is being accused of forging a land title. Ronald Ruta Kansahabe, a resident of Lyantonde town accuses Atwezikire of forging a land title with intentions of grabbing his 74 acre piece of land that is found in Kyabadaaza village. Kanshabe, the head teacher of Ronald Ruta primary school says that he bought the disputed piece of land in 1999 and processed its title in 2005 from the Entebbe lands office.
He alleges that Atwezikire processed another title for the same land a year, after he had acquired. Two days ago, Atwezikire hired unknown men to raze down a barbed wire fence erected around the disputed land forcing Kanshabe’s cows to start roaming around the village. As a result, Kanshabe petitioned the land protection and fraud squad in Lyantonde and Kampala to intervene in the matter.
William Kototyo, the officer in charge of the police land fraud unit has confirmed receiving the petition filed by Kansahabe to investigate the forged land title. He says that they are going to summon both parties to investigate the land titles. Atwezikire has not yet commented on the accusations labeled against him by Kanshabe as he was out of office and his mobile number switched off when this reporter tried to reach him.
