FIFA Officials Propose Changes to FUFA Constitution

Three senior officials of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) have proposed several changes to the constitution of the local football governing body FUFA- Federation of Uganda Football Associations.
Three senior officials of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) have proposed several changes to the constitution of the local football governing body FUFA- Federation of Uganda Football Associations.  The officials Nicolas Valticos, the FIFA Legal Counsel, Ashford Mamelodi, the Regional Development Officer and Primo Cavaro, the FIFA Development Officer made the proposals in a meeting they held with FUFA officials in Entebbe over the weekend.
 
 
FUFA was represented by Moses Magogo, the Vice President in charge Administration, Mujib Kasule ,Vice President in-charge of the League, CEO Edgar Watson, Rogers Byamukama, Alex Luganda and, Meddie Bazirengedde amongst others. A source that spoke to URN on condition of anonymity so as to speak freely said once adopted, the changes will favor people interested in developing football.


According to the source, the officials proposed a review on the membership of the members of the FUFA general assembly, the relationship between FUFA and its member organization, re arrangement of the local league and management of soccer in the country. The proposal comes a few months after clashes between FUFA and Uganda Super League Limited (USLL) over the management of the local football league. According to the source, the officials advised changes to various articles in the FUFA constitution to avoid future problems.
 

Moses Magogo, FUFA Vice President in charge Administration has confirmed the development saying that the reforms will cause a fundamental change in the management of FUFA. He says that the proposal seeks to advance FUFA as an institution ahead of individual interests. Rogers Mulindwa, the spokesman FUFA says that discussions are still ongoing between FUFA and FIFA over the proposed reforms. He says the proposals will be tabled for discussion once their ongoing consultations complete.
