A 16-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in Kayunga Ndejje village in Luweero district on Friday last week has been found dead. Caroline Twesende’s body was found in a bush at Kayunga-Ndejje village by Juliet Namuleme because of the heavy stench from the decomposing body.
She is suspected to have been gang rapped and strangled to death. Sarafina Mushabe, the mother to the deceased says that deceased left home on Friday last week to go and sell mangoes in Ndejje town but didn’t return home. Mushabe says that they reported the disappearance of their daughter at police after searching for her in vain, until when her body was found.
Willy Seruwagi, the officer in charge of Ndejje police station says that police suspects that the assailants targeted the money the deceased had collected from selling mangoes. He says that suspects could have resorted to violence when Twesende refused to willingly surrender the money. She says that they have taken the body to Mulago Hospital for a postmorterm as investigations into the incident are ongoing.
