Mayuge Police is holding six suspects in connection to the murder of Shafiq Kyakumi, a resident of Namugongo Island in Bukatube sub-county. The suspects are Henry Kamya, Steven Okoth, Godfrey Okoth, Samson Muyanja, Noah Alex and Scovia Badaza all residents of Namugongo Island.
Edward Musasizi, the officer in charge of Criminal Investigations in Mayuge district says that Kyakumi went with the suspects to collect fish for his boss early this week but didn’t return. Musasizi says that Kyakumi’s body was later found lying on the shores of Lake Victoria with a bullet wound on his head.
He says that police decided to pick up the suspects for interrogation over the murder. Musasizi says the suspects will be charged with murder. They are currently held at Mayuge central police station as investigations continue.
