Fred Muhangi, Lyantonde LC V chairman is wanted for assaulting the District Police Commander Rashid Agero. Muhangi reportedly assaulted the DPC on Monday after he stormed Lyantonde Central Police Station demanding an explanation why police was holding his friend Paul Luzula.
Eye witnesses say that what started off as a decent discussion resulted into a bitter argument and eventually a fist fight. Police sources say that Muhangi slapped and punched Agero several times leaving him with a bruised. It is alleged that after assaulting the DPC Muhangi went into hiding. Simon Peter Wafana, the Regional Police Commander says that they have opened a case file No.CRB 836/2012 against the district chairman.
He says that they are hunting for Muhangi to explain his actions. Agero explains that they picked up Paul Luzula after Fred Nayebare Kyamuzigitta, the former Lyantonde LC V chairman accused him of trespassing on his farm and cutting his cows. Muhangi has not yet commented on the accusations against him as he was not at his office, and his known mobile phone number was switched off.
