Crime
The accident occurred at Kakiira village when the speeding trailer of registration number UAJ 100M / UAD 511Q that was loaded with cement hit the canter truck of registration number UAK 355Q.
Two people were killed on Tuesday morning and 18 others injured in a motor accident in Jinja following an accident involving a trailer and truck carrying mourners. The accident occurred at Kakiira village when the speeding trailer of registration number UAJ 100M / UAD 511Q that was loaded with cement hit the canter truck of registration number UAK 355Q.

Two mourners Jessica Kankate and Joshua Kapele died on spot. 18 other mourners injured seriously and rushed to Jinja regional referral hospital in critical condition.  John Magero, an eye witness says that after hitting the canter truck, the trailer lost control and hit an Iganga bound taxi of registration number UAN 946X injuring one person.

Magero says that the accident occurred when the driver of the speeding trailer failed to break when he approached a hump and tried to overtake the canter. He says that as a result, the trailer hit the canter vehicle killing the two travelers on spot. Samson Lubega, South Eastern police regional spokesman says that police has launched investigations to establish what could have caused the accident.

He says that the vehicles have been towed to Nalufenya police station as investigations are ongoing. Late last year, five people were killed at the same spot after a speeding trailer knocked a Toyota Hiace from behind at the humps.
