Bosco Arop, Kabale District Police commander says that 21 illegal Indian immigrants were picked up in the operations but two were released after the screening exercise. He says that the remaining suspects will be transferred to Kampala for further action by the immigration department.

Elly Maate, the South-south western Uganda police spokesperson says some of the Indians were found operating unregistered businesses, while the majority had visitor’s passes.  He explains that the operation against the illegal immigrants is ongoing, but declined to reveal the identities of the detained suspects saying it would jeopardize investigations.
