Uganda Cranes tactician Bobby Williamson has this morning named his squad to start training on May 21 ahead of the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers match against Angola on June 3.

Announcing the team during the press briefing at the FUFA headquarters in Mengo, the coach said the 30-man squad comprises 22 professionals and 8 home based players. After several years minus a call-up, South African based goalkeeper, Posnet Omony, who features for Black Leopards FC, has been invited.

The Scottish born coach said the invitations were based on players’ performances in their respective clubs.

After the Angola game in Luanda, the Cranes will face Senegal on June 9 in a World Cup qualifier in Dakar before hosting Congo Brazzaville on June 26 in a game they must win to make it to the next round of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Congo Brazzaville beat Uganda Cranes 3-1 in the first leg two months ago and the regional Cecafa champions need to respond in style to advance.

The players invited include goalkeepers Posnet Omony (Black Leopards, SA), Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundown, SA), Dhaira Abel (IBV Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland), and Hamza Muwonge (Bunamwaya)

In defense, Williamson has invited Simeon Masaba (URA), Denis Guma (Victoria University), Isaac Isinde (St. George, Ethiopia), Henry Kalungi (Richmond Kickers, USA), Godfrey Walusimbi (Bunnamwaya), Hassan Wasswa (Kayseri Erciyesspor, Turkey) and Joseph Ochaya (KCC). The others are Habib Kavuma (APR, Rwanda), Edward Ssali (Bunamwaya), Joseph Owino (Azam, Tanzania) and Andrew Mwesigwa (Ordabasy FC, Kazahastan).

The midfield has Mike Sserumaga (St. George, Ethiopia), Tonny Mawejje (IBV, Iceland), Musa Mudde (Sofapaka, Kenya), Patrick Ochan  (TP Mazembe, DRC), Martin Kayongo (AIK-Sweden), Dan Wagaluka (APR, Rwanda), Moses Oloya (Sai Gon Xuah Thanh,Vietnam) and Sula Matovu (St. George, Ethiopia).

Williamson will choose his striking force from Emmanuel Okwi (Simba, Tanzania), Fabian Derrick Kizito (Leonidas, Netherlands), Brian Umony (Becamex Binh Duong, Vietnam), Geoffrey Massa (Nicosia Kapia, Cyprus), Ceaser Okhuti (Bunamwaya), Mike Mutyaba (El Merreikh, Sudan) and Robert Ssentongo (URA).
