Authorities of Bugembe town council are under fire from residents for shoddy work. Residents accuse the town council authorities of poor road construction. They cite the recently constructed Workshop, Dhalia, Prayer Palace and Rest House roads. The four roads were rehabilitated this financial years at the tune of shillings 160 million. But the residents claim substandard material was used to work on the roads.
Abbey Wekiya, whose house is located along workshop road, says that the murram put on the road was mixed with loam soil. He says that murrum that was put on the road late last year, has already been washed away by rain. Wekiya says that whenever it rains the road becomes slippery, which points to the shoddy work. Emmanuel Mugabi, a resident of Bughumbuli says the drainage on Rest house road was poorly done.
He says that stones and cement used to construct the drainage on Rest house road three months ago has washed away on some portions of the road. Juliet Namansa, a resident of Katende village says that the culverts used on Dhalia road are substandard and too narrow. He says that whenever it rains the road gets soaked and becomes muddy because of the narrow culverts.
Steven Wante, the LC 3 chairman of Bugembe town council admits that the road works are shoddy. He accuses the town council engineer of failing to present to the council the bills of quantity, which leaves him and the councilors ignorant about what is being done on the roads.

Cue out:…not being done very well we will reject them.//
Wante is worried that as the 2011/ 2012 financial comes to an end they have write a report for more funding yet the work on the road is shoddy. Charles Mugweri, Bugembe town council Engineer blames the councilors for politicizing the road construction in Bugembe.
He explains that some of the councilors block construction to get bribes. He says that most of the construction works are incomplete adding that the changes in price have affected their works. Mugweri says the politicians should only inspect the roads after construction has been finalized by the contractors.
