More than 300 residents in Nakaseke district are homeless after a violent rainstorm devastated their houses on Thursday night.
The most affected residents are found in the villages of Kyamutakasa, Nabika, Kyambogo and Mifunya in Nakaseke Sub County.
The rainstorm also unroofed Mifunya Primary School and Kasagga Pentecostal Church.
The chairman Nakaseke Sub County LC 3 chairperson, John Mugerwa says that the rain characterized with hailstones started at around 4pm and lasted for three hours, leaving more than 30 houses destroyed.
Mugerwa adds that the house of one resident, Tadeo Alindayo, collapsed and four family members were admitted at Nakaseke hospital after being hit by falling the bricks.
Damalie Zasanze, one of the affected residents told URN Reporter on Friday that she and her five children have nowhere to sleep and lacks money to reconstruct her house.
Sam Nkalubo, another affected resident says that the rainstorm ravaged his house and properties leaving all the family homeless.
Another affected resident, James Muwanga says that the area faces hunger because the hailstorm destroyed ravaged more than 40 acres of maize, banana and other food crops.
The residents have appealed to the district, Nakaseke South Member of Parliament Mbuga Ssempala and state minister for Luweero triangle, Rose Namayanja, to help them with relief items such as foodstuffs and tents.
