The Executive Committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA is proposing various constitutional amendments to streamline football administration in the country. The proposals were discussed in the FUFA executive meeting convened on May 18th at the FUFA house in Mengo. The proposals include giving all super division clubs voting rights in the FUFA Assembly, the replacement of the District Football Associations with FUFA Regional Football Associations and the reduction of the current FUFA assembly by half.
The executive also proposed that the FUFA Big and the Regional League clubs be represented in the General Assembly, retain only 6 Special interest associations and trim down the FUFA Executive Committee from 21 to 13 members. Rogers Mulindwa, the FUFA spokesman says that under the new administration the position specialized Vice Presidents will no longer exist as their work will be taken over by professional and full-time employees of the federation.
Mulindwa explains that the committee will soon announce a date when the proposed amendments will be tabled before the general assembly for discussion and approval. He says that FUFA wants some of the provisions implemented immediately before the start of the new league season, while the rest will come into force at the expiry of the term of the current executive.
