Defender Kalungi Joins Cranes Camp

The calm defender, who played alongside Andy Mwesigwa in the Cranes 3-1 away loss to Congo Brazzaville in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier two months ago, said he was happy to be home and was looking forward to give his best.
Newly appointed skipper of the Richmond Kickers FC in the United States Henry Kalungi has joined the Cranes camp at Namboole Stadium and was part of the morning session on Tuesday.

The calm defender, who played alongside Andy Mwesigwa in the Cranes 3-1 away loss to Congo Brazzaville in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier two months ago, said he was happy to be home and was looking forward to give his best.

Kalungi was also part of the team that won the 2010 regional Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

The Cranes are preparing for a tricky away game against Angola on June 2 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier, before they host West African giants Senegal on June 9 in the same competition. The other players who arrived on Tuesday morning include South African based goalkeeper Denis Onyango and Moses Oloya, who is based in Vietnam.

The Cranes who have failed to win a single International match this year having also lost 2-1 to Egypt in an International friendly played in Khartoum, Sudan, will have to work hard to get their act together especially after key players Geoffrey Massa and Mike Mutyaba are ruled out with injuries.

The Cranes coach Bobby Williamson said he is very impressed with the response of the players including Swedish based Martin Kayongo and Fabian Derrick Kizito who plies his trade with Leonidas FC in the Netherlands.
 
The players in the camp include goalkeepers Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundown, SA), Dhaira Abel (IBV Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland) and Hamza Muwonge (Bunamwaya).

In the defenders Coach Williamson will choose from Simeon Masaba(URA), Denis Guma (Victoria University), Isaac Isinde (St. George, Ethiopia), Henry Kalungi (Richmond Kickers, USA), Godfrey Walusimbi (Bunnamwaya), Hassan Wasswa (Kayseri Erciyesspor, Turkey), Joseph Ochaya (KCC), Habib Kavuma (APR, Rwanda), Edward Ssali (Bunamwaya), Joseph Owino (Azam, Tanzania) and Andrew Mwesigwa (Ordabasy FC,Kazahastan).

The midfield has Mike Sserumaga (St. George, Ethiopia), Tonny Mawejje (IBV, Iceland), Patrick Ochan  (TPMazembe, DRC), Martin Kayongo (AIK-Sweden), Dan Wagaluka (APR, Rwanda), Moses Oloya (Sai Gon Xuah Thanh,Vietnam), SulaMatovu (St. George, Ethiopia) and Johnson Bagoole (APR, Rwanda).

The attackers in the camp include Emmanuel Okwi (Simba, Tanzania), Fabian Derrick Kizito (Leonidas, Netherlands), Brian Umony (Becamex Binh Duong, Vietnam), Ceaser Okhuti (Bunamwaya) and Robert Ssentongo (URA).
