A two year old boy, who went missing in Kalangala district on Thursday, has been found dead in an abandoned pit latrine.

Pascal Jjuuko disappeared from his aunt Teddy Najjengo at Bugoma village, Mugoye Sub County.

Najjengo says that his nephew went missing in the evening when he went with other children to play. Najjengo explains that she realized late in the evening when Jjuuko did not return home and she started looking for him.

She says that they searched for him the whole of Thursday in vain and later reported to the police.

As result police and residents mounted a search for the boy and they found his body stuck in the water logged abandoned latrine.

Makinga Matovu, the Bugoma LCI chairperson, who was the first person to see the body, says the boy drowned after falling in the pit.

Franco Ogidia, the in-charge Bugoma Police Post, says that police reached the place after residents had already retrieved the body. He explains that the latrine was abandoned, not covered and had some water hence not easy to find the boy alive. He says the body has been handed over to the relatives for burial.
