The Personal Assistant to Health Minister Jim Muhwezi has revealed the truth about the trips made by the minister of health Jim Muhwezi using the global fund money.
Muhwezi was on Tuesday this week asked to account for over 50 million shillings that he requisitioned for trips to Southern and Western Africa to campaign for the appointment of Uganda's former Director General of Health Services, Francis Omaswa to a top World Health Organization post.
He however said that he wasn't aware that the money used for his trip was got from the global fund. Muhwezi told the commission that the trip was organized by his personal assistant Simon Kagumire.
Simon Kagumire however told the commission that Muhwezi did not travel to South Africa to campaign for Omaswa. He says that Muhwezi used the money for a trip to New York, to attend the 12th session of UN commission on sustainable development.
Ogoola said Kagumire's revelation had only added more confusion to the testimony by Muhwezi on Tuesday.

19,800 dollars was used to pay for Muhwezi's trip. Kagumire told the commission that the Ministry of Health had since refunded the money to the global fund.
The commission is investigating allegations of mismanagement of 201million dollars meant to fight Aids, Tuberculosis and malaria in Uganda.
