Tough Battles for URA, Bunnamwaya in Super League

Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club face one of their toughest tests this evening when they battle Maroons FC in a Bell Lager League game that could determine the direction of this year’s trophy.

Coach Alex Isabirye’s boys lifted the Bell Lager Uganda Cup last month after beating Bunnamwaya FC 1-0 at Pece Stadium in Gulu and are currently leading the League table with 54 points. But the going has not been as easy for the reigning League Champions in the last three weeks as they have allowed Express FC to get advantage after falling to army side Simba last week.

While URA battle 11th placed Maroons, Express with 53 points and with a game in hand, face second placed Bunnamwaya while Victors take on Fire Masters. Sam Timbe’s struggling Police FC will play Hoima-Busia and UTODA host KCC.

Express coach Sam Ssimbwa told URN on Monday night that they are taking nothing to chance because the Bunnamwaya game is a final to them. Ssimbwa’s target is to beat Bunnamwaya and hope to secure points in the last game of the league.

However, a win for Bunnamwaya and a loss or draw for URA could swing the advantage to Bunnamwaya. With the likes of Ceaser Okhuti, Tony Odur, Jacob Otunga, William Luwaga Kizito and Martin Muwanga all seemingly in good form, Bunnamwaya are the most unpredictable side that could easily pick maximum points where it matters most.

URA leading striker Robert Ssentongo, who missed the Cranes trip to Angola, will have to shake off injury and jump into the fray to try and help his team. The veteran striker said he wants to be the top scorer in both the Bell Uganda Cup and the League
