The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has asked the police countrywide to mount a search for Arua State Attorney, Edward Bamulutira, who is on the run after allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of Shs 400,000.
Bamulutira is wanted by the Anti-Corruption Court to answer to the above charges, which are contrary to Sections 2 (a) and 26 of the Anti-Corruption Act.
The DPP issued a statement dated June 1, 2012 directing police to arrest Bamulutira.
According to the charge sheet drawn by Rukia Nambozo, a public prosecutor and consented to by Richard Buteera the DPP, Bamulutira is accused of corruptly soliciting and receiving a gratification of Shs400,000 from Moses Anguyo, a resident of Arua as an inducement to aid the release of his brother Mustafa Etoma Sulaiman on bail.
Etoma had been arrested on charges of criminal trespass which case Bamulutira was prosecuting.
He allegedly committed the crime in Arua between 22 and 27 May this year.
